District Governor Karl Ernst

DG Karl has been a member of Siler City Lions Club since 2000, where he served as Director, Vice President and three terms as President. He has served on the North Carolina Lions Inc. Board of Directors as a Lion in District 31-G and is currently serving as the first two year Director for District 31-0. He has served as 2nd and 1st Vice District Governor in District 31-G. Lion Karl is a Jack Stickley Fellow with 1st progressive level. He also helped establish the Leo Club at the local High School. Recently, he added Head Mixologist for the soon-to-be-world-famous Siler City Pancake Breakfast to his list of achievements.

Lion Karl has been working in the buildings and energy management systems industry for 37 years at various levels, including technician, project manager, project engineer, senior estimator and sales account executive. He was a SGT, USAF Special Operations as a combat airman in Southeast Asia Operations and honorably discharged in April 1974. He is a certificated commercial pilot with instrument and multi-engine ratings and a flight instructor with instrument and multi-engine ratings.

Lion Karl is a former member of the Chatham County Planning Board, Past Member of the Chatham County Strategic Planning Committee and Land Use Implementation Committee. He is a volunteer hunter Safety Education Instructor and certified by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission Enforcement Division. He is also a volunteer coach for Jordan Matthews High School FFA Marksmanship Team. He is a member of the National Fire Protection Association, NC Defense Business Association,
NC Military Business Council, National Rifle Association and Society of American Military Engineers.

Lion Karl has been a resident of Siler City since 1974. He and his wife, Lion Barbara, have been married 18 years.

1st VDG Susan Dailey, hailing from Long Island, NY, has been a member of the McLeansvillle Lions Club since 2006, when she became the first female member of the club. On the club level, Lion Susie served as club President three times, she is on the Board of Directors, a member of the Eastern Guilford Leo Advisory Board, raffle chair for the Annual Delbert Phillips Antique Tractor Show, Chairman of the Lions Services for Children Committee and was just appointed as the Centennial Celebration Chairperson.

On the District level, her services include chairing the Peace Poster Committee, serving as a Zone Chair, being Chairperson of Lions Services for Children Chair for four years, and she served as District Secretary. Lion Susie will serve as the state chairperson for Lions Services for Children. She has been awarded the Lion of the Year by her club, She is also a Melvin Jones Fellow, a Jack Stickley fellow, received the William L. Woolard Partner-in-Service, the Sid L. Scruggs III Beacon of Hope, and an International Leadership Medal. Lion Susie is a Certified Guiding Lion Lion Susie is a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, the cofounder of the Dailey Girls Project, and active with the YWCA Emergency Family Shelter and Women Impacting Greensboro. Lion Susie’s greatest joy is her family. She is the Mom of twin sons.

2nd VDG Paul Silverman’s Lions Clubs Activities include Member of Danville Virginia Lions Club, 1983 – 1985; Durham Lions Club, 1989 – present; President of Durham Lions Club, 2000 – 2001; Treasurer of Durham Lions Club, 2007 – 2011 and 2013 – 2015; Co-Chair for Local Lions Habitat for Humanity Project, 2005.

District Activities include Zone Chairman, 2001 – 2002; Region Chairman, 2002 – 2003; District NCLF Budget and Finance Chairman, 2004 – 2008; District Youth & International Understanding Chairman, 2011 – 2012; District Brighter Visions Co-Chairman, 2013 – 2015.

Paul works as a Real Estate Broker with Weichert Realty, 2010 – present, and is a member of Durham Regional Association of Realtors, 2002 – present, and Judea Reform Congregation, Treasurer, June 2003 – June 2005. He was born in Danville, Virginia and received a B.A. in Economics from the University
of Virginia in 1981. His Life Partner is Barbara and they live in Chapel Hill (Durham Co). Between he and Barbara, they have five children and 1 grandchild.

Lion Ron joined the Pinehurst Lions club in 1987 and currently serves as Vice President of the Carthage Lions Club. He has served twice as District Governor (‘94-’95; ‘06-’07), 5 years as Cabinet Secretary for the former District 31-F, 5 years as State Council Secretary/Treasurer, 7 years on the
State Constitution and Bylaws Committee including Chair ‘04-’06. He has twice served on the NCLI Board of Directors. He has served as the Coordinator of the Hall of Fame since its’ inception, and completed his tenure as State Council Chair in June 2015.

His Awards include both the International President’s Presidential and Leadership Medals and ten International President’s Certificates of Appreciation. Lion Ron also holds Builders’ Key, an Extension Key, and was inducted into the NC Lions Hall of Fame in 2014. In 2016, he received the Ambassador of Good Will—the highest of LCI’s Member Honors

Ron received a B.A. from New York University majoring in Banking and Finance, and worked in the investment field over a span of 42 years both in New York and North Carolina.

Ron and his wife Jan have two children, Mike and Kathy, two grandchildren, Jessica and Dylan, and one great grandchild, Cooper. Ron volunteers with the Pinehurst Police and enjoys golf, gardening, reading, bird watching, and family time.
