Susan O’Brien – District Governor 2023/24

Lion Susan became a Lion in 2010 while living in Brookfield CT. She transferred her membership to the Waxhaw Club in 2017 following a relocation to the Charlotte NC area. She is a Melvin Jones Fellow and the recipient of several awards in recognition of distinguished achievements in fulfilling the mission of Lions International, including two International Presidents’ Certificates of Appreciation and New Voices in Leadership Award.

Susan is a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University with degrees in both Physics and Management Science. She started her career as a research engineer in the semiconductor industry and is currently a Senior VP at Bank of America. Susan and her husband Michael, a retired carpenter, live in Fort Mill, SC with their adopted sibling cats Pearl and Onyx. They are the proud parents of four adult children, and grandparents to two young ladies.

Susan’s vision for the district is to improve the promotion and growth of each Lions Club through enhanced internet presence, collaborative community service projects, and expanded youth programs that encourage family-based volunteerism. She is inspired by the strong District team that has stepped up to help clubs prosper. Together, the Lions of 31-O are on a mission to enhance the value and prestige of Lions International through its five global causes and more, including literacy projects, local humanitarian services, and strong support for Brighter Visions programs right here in NC.
